Operation of a sliding contact with the use of solid lubricant made of molybdenum disulfide is considered It is shown, using a model of viscous flow, that a lubricant in a sliding contact system causes a magnetohydrodynamic force to appear, whose vertical component is directed oppositely to the brush compression force. The conditions for finding the optimum thickness of the lubricant layer are presented. It is pointed out that under certain conditions, cavitation can occur under the trailing edge of the brush, which will result in a poorer electrical contact.
